They've just opened the door to a whole new slew of dates as Death Cab for Cutie's latest LP, The Open Door, has already seen a plethora of rave with its online release March 31 and the full length sessions the five tracks are connected with, Narrow Stairs.

The guys may still be indie rockers at heart, but with the commercial success of their latest set and a major label backing them, it might be time for the flannel clad boys to shed such a title. Still, with the musical appeal and hardworking attitude that make nearly every Death Cab set a D.I.Y. one, their eclectic mix of catchy pop and thought provoking rock can remain an indie lick if that's what will please them and those holding Death Cab for Cutie tickets.

Sure, the guys signed to Atlantic in 2004 but rather than lose those fans that attempt to stick it to the major, their overzealous support has merely grown, and grown, in number. "These past few records have allowed us to tour overseas. On the road, your 'home' shrinks down to a backpack and a suitcase, and that routine is a learning process," Nick Harmer said to the Washington News. "We weren't so healthy on our earlier tours, where every chance to go out on the road was a vacation from our day jobs. We'd really put ourselves through the wringer. As we grow older and this becomes our only career, we've learned how to take better care of ourselves. It allows for longevity."

For Narrow Stairs, and subsequently The Open Door, the guys matured view of the world help materialize their pop rock concept to instant commercial and critical acclaim as the guys jaunt through the States this spring with the help of folks online.
