Some fires will be what the firemen call an accidental fire. This means the fire was caused by a person not meaning to do it. Accidental fires can be because someone knocked over a candle or left something cooking on the stove and forgot about it. While accidental fires are not intentional, the damage will be the same as when someone sets one on purpose. You can still get burned in the face and the smoke can make you pass out. If you are ever involved in a fire, hopefully you will be able to get out without injury.
Any fire can be dangerous and most of you hope to never have one. But as you all know fires get started every day and some of the worst ones are started during the night. Most of the time when a fire gets started at night you are caught completely unaware until your smoke detector goes off. It is hard to spot a fire when you are sleeping. Having someone who smokes in bed and fall asleep is a none fire starter at night. Leaving a space heater set too high when you go to bed or leaving something too near one will start a fire at night. These are a couple of reasons why fires start at night, but not the only ones.
Try to have safety devices like smoke detectors that work correctly installed in your home in several different places. If you want to you can put one in each of the rooms in your house. This way if you happen to be on the other side of the house when a fire starts, you will still be alerted. Keep at least one fire extinguisher and possibly two just in case one malfunctioned or you could not get to it. Have an escape plan with a back-up plan just in case the first becomes unreachable. In other words, if a fire were to start on the other side of your home and the way out was set for that part of the house, you would have to get out some other way.
If you have a fire day or night, just remember to stay as calm as you can. Get out by your escape route making sure that everyone gets out and then call the people you need to get a hold of like your insurance agent and of course the fire department. Make sure that all of you are okay and wait. After everything if said and done, then call in the a fire or water damage company to repair your home. Usually one company will be able to handle all of the jobs that will need to be done if you hire the right one.
