Beekeepers are often classified as very patient and caring individuals. They work hard to offer a peaceful existence for the bees they have in their care. They harvest the honeycomb from the bee hives and sell the honey products they produce. Some beekeepers take on specific jobs in addition to producing honey.

They may offer the services of their bees for pollination of flowers and crops. They may also specialize in raising queen bees. This way they can get new bee hives started to grow their business or for others to use. These types of specialized jobs will make a beekeeper substantially more money than just selling honey.

Beekeepers make an average annual earning of $40,000. This is a good living in some areas depending on the cost of living. It is important to keep in mind though that many of these beekeepers also have a farm, ranch, or other type of business in addition to the bees. This is a source of secondary income for them.

Beekeepers do have a very difficult job though. They have to work hard to protect themselves from attacks. They also have to provide a quality environment for the bees to live in. Those that don’t have a good environment will not do well as the queen bee won’t continue reproducing. As a result, there are fewer young bees to produce the beeswax. This ability generally only lasts until they are about 30 days old.

Beekeepers are also under close scrutiny by animal rights activities. They feel the bees should be able to live in their own natural environment without any human interactions. They believe transporting the bees is very stressful for them and it can cause them to die sooner. Some beekeepers have also been accused of mating queen bees with certain males in order to get the genetic materials they want present in the bees the care for.

Most beekeepers disagree with these statements though. They claim that animal rights activists don’t have all of the facts. They clearly allow the bees to come and go at their own free will. However, they freely choose to return to that particular environment because it is clean and safe for them to do so.
