Invitations & Announcements
Chances are you regularly receive invitations and announcements in the mail for a variety of different events. There are weddings, baby showers, birthday parties, and holiday parties to name a few of them. Announcements are also sent out when a couple gets engaged or has a new baby. You have likely noticed the variety of these invitations and announcements because there are plenty of options to choose from. Each person has their own individual taste and it is generally reflected in the types of invitations and announcements they choose to send out.
The difference between invitations and announcements are sometimes blurred and that can be confusing to people. An invitation offers information about an event that will be taking place and that the person is invited to. An announcement is designed to tell someone about something that is going on. For example you may get a graduation announcement but that doesn’t mean you are invited to the actual graduation. If there will be a party there should be a separate invitation or a paper with the information inside of the announcement.
Due to the overwhelming popularity of the internet, invitations and announcements are being sent via e-mail instead of through the post office. This is a very fast and convenient way to get the information to everyone you stay in contact with. It is a also a very affordable way to send out your invitations and announcements. You should send them with a confirmation that they got read though. This way you can call those people that may have your invitation or announcement in their junk mail box.
Regardless of the types of invitations and announcements you choose to send out, make sure you have all the information on it that guests will need. It is a good idea to include a phone number just in case someone needs to contact you for more information. If you will be serving a meal or just refreshments you should include this information on the invitation.
It is also a good idea to specify who is invited on invitations. If you are having a party for only adults don’t assume they will know it. They will be quite embarrassed when they show up at your party with their children along. There are plenty of great ways you can incorporate this information into your invitations so make sure you do so.
