Plaques
Plaques are commonly given in sporting events as an alternative to trophies. In some instances a trophy will be given to the first place team or individual and then a plaque will be give to the second and third place winners. Plaques are less expensive than trophies and they serve the same purpose. Many sports players proudly display the plaques they have won over the years in various events.
Plaques vary in size but they are generally either a 5 x 7 or a 8 x 10. They are made from various types of wood or crystal. They can be plain or feature an engraved design around the edges to give the plaque a more distinct appearance. A plate with the information of the event is placed on the center of the background material.
You can choose various colors for the plate that you put on the plaques. The most common are silver or gold but there is no set guidelines for this. You can customize the size and the style of the information to be printed on the plate. Script is very nice but it can be difficult to read if it is too small. The amount of room you will have for the information depends on the plaque size and how much information you need to place on it.
It is important to make sure the information engraved on the plaques are correct. You should double check the spelling of the names of all players that will be put on them. These days there are so many different ways to spell even the most common names that you don’t want to just assume you have the information correct.
The prices for plaques vary from just a few dollars a piece to hundreds of dollars. It depends on the quality that you want for the presentation. Some of the plaques given in professional sports are rumored to cost thousands of dollars as the lettering is done in real gold on them.
