There are several types of instruments needed for a polka band so you will find the consist of many people up on the stage. You will generally have one person to play each of the following instruments: the drums, the guitar, the clarinet, the trumpet, the saxophone, the accordion, and the concertina.

Sometimes there will only be one person that trades off with the trumpet and the saxophone for various songs that will be performed. There could be a harmonica player or someone else in the band and play it as well. A polka band also needs a lead singer and it may have some members for backup vocals that don’t play any other type of instrument.

You will find these types of polka bands are often available for hire. You can pay them to perform for any event that you are hosting. They are becoming an increasingly popular theme for Oktoberfest so you will need to book them early for that particular event. You can find these bands that are out there by watching your local newspaper, talking to other people you know, paying attention to bulletin board notices, and searching online.

It is a good idea to listen to a polka band perform before you hire them. You want to make sure they are what you have been searching for. If you can’t see them perform live then as them to provide you with a demo tape. Most polka bands will be very happy to provide you with one. The cost of hiring a polka band depends on what price they have set for themselves and how good they are. You can try to negotiate that price if you think it is too steep.

You can still listen to live polka bands if you have an establishment that offers this type of music in your area. You can also become a member of the different polka music associations. They often hosts events in various locations and invite their members to come listen to the polka bands and to dance the night away. Polka bands may not be as popular today as they once were, but they are still out there and most of them really love to have the opportunity to perform.
