Petroleum is a type of material that is taken from the Earth in a liquid form. It is a dark black color and it is used to make all types of oil for vehicles and it is also used for various types of industry to operate their machinery. Petroleum production is a billion dollar industry with those that have control of this product also being able to dictate high prices for it on the market.

There is such a high demand for petroleum that people will pay the asking price no matter what it is. If you need to put gas in your car you have no choice but to pay for it. Of course they try to say those high costs of oil have to do with the cost of making it, but those that follow the peaks know it is a game that is played. During high volume travel times including the holidays and summer vacation fuel prices tend to increase. They also increase over the weekends when most people drive more often.
The process of removing the petroleum from the ground has to be done with large drills that are in place. Occasionally you will hear a story about someone replacing a well or something and discovering petroleum in their yard. This isn’t the norm though and these are very isolated incidents. Oil wells are also put into place where large amounts of petroleum have been detected underneath the soil.
The various types of process petroleum depend on what they final product will be. These processing include purifying the petroleum and getting it ready to be used. Petroleum is found in fuel, motor oil, and kerosene just to name a few of the main products. Since the United States is so dependent on petroleum that causes some political issues. While there are some petroleum fields found in Texas, the majority of the petroleum we use is offshore in other countries.

Some researchers forecast that if we keep using the amount of petroleum that we have been, it will all be gone in less than 50 years.
