World Landmarks
All over the world you will find wonderful landmarks that are truly amazing. You may want to find out more about them online though as most of us can’t travel to other countries to see them personally. If you do get the opportunity to do such traveling though you should take advantage of it. There are plenty of landmarks throughout the world that you will never forget seeing.
If you travel to Egypt, they pyramids will really get you thinking. It is still a mystery as to how these early civilizations were able to build these designs without modern day tools. The Sphinx that you will find outside of these landmarks are also very well detailed. The Luxor on the Las Vegas strip is a replica of these features, and it was very complicated for architects to make it structurally sound. They conducted a great deal of research on the real pyramids in Egypt to help them.
The Taj Mahal in India looks like something out of a fairy tale princess book. It was built in 1648 and has been continually updated to keep it looking beautiful. The architectural design of this white work of art is unbelievable. The dome and many of the floors are made from marble. It is said to be the most often viewed landmark in all of India. More than three million people travel to India each year for the sole purpose of seeing the Taj Mahal.
Big Ben is found in London and it has been featured as a focal point in many movies and documentaries. Since 1834 this clock has been there high above the rest of the world for all to see. There are often many wrecks in this area due to a round about outside of Big Ben. Many people are too busy admiring the building and the clock to pay attention to their driving. Generally these are minor fender benders that involve tourists to the area.
Even though the Roman Coliseum is partially destroyed, it is a very well known landmark. It is one of the last remains of the Roman Empire and nothing has been done to remove it. There has been plenty of work done to preserve what remains of it. During its finer days, this Coliseum was the home of various sporting events and even religious gatherings on special holidays.
