Wilderness
Even though many of us love to visit National parks and recreational facilities located outdoors, we have to stop and remember that this is also the home to many different types of animals. The wilderness is their natural habitat but much of it has been invaded by humans. In these designated areas there is the chance for humans and animals to interact on some level with each other.
You definitely have to keep in mind that they are wild animals though. You will often find contraptions for trash cans that are hard for humans to open. This is to keep bears and other animals from being able to get into them and forage for food. You will also see deer running across the roads so make sure you are watching for them and driving slowly.
There is no hunting, poaching, or killing of animals allowed to take place in these wilderness areas. The only type of contact you can usually engage is fishing, and you need to make sure you have the right type of license for the fishing you are doing. There are plenty of park rangers driving around that will make sure you are following the rules. You can be jailed, fined, or both for violating the various rules and guidelines that are in place.
These areas allow people to find out some about how nature affects our own lives though. Many of these park rangers offer education programs so that children and adults can learn more about the types of animals in that environment. You can discover fun facts that you may not have known before about their lives and even what they eat.
This is also a great opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have about the various animals. You can also ask questions about what it takes to become a park ranger. These men and women will be glad to share their own stories with you so that you can pursue your dream of following in their footsteps.
The wilderness is quite fascinating, but you have to remember that there is a balance in this world between people and animals. Make sure you follow all of the rules and guidelines at these facilities whether you see a park ranger in the area or not. It is a matter of respect for animals and for the environment we live in as a whole.
