A common type of manicure asked for today to be fashionable is called the French Manicure. It originated in Paris but quickly became popular everywhere else. This type of manicure features a very pale looking pink base coat of color on the nails. About ¼ inch of the top of each nail is painted a heavy white color.

They are very simple to complete either at home or by a professional. Most salons charge more for a French Manicure than a regular one though because it takes longer to complete. Getting the white portion of the nails completed takes the longest.  They provide a very elegant and classy look that works well for a day at the office or a night on the town. It also provides the fingernails with a very clean appearance.

To make sure your French manicure has the finished results you are after, it is important to properly prepare your fingernails for the process. You should take the time to completely clean and shape your fingernails. Next you will want to apply a thin layer of good quality clear nail polish as a base coat.

It can be difficult to get the white lines on the tips of the nails straight and of the same depth. You really need the entire look to be consistent or your French manicure won’t have the same effect. To assist you with this process consider using nail tip guides. You can take them off once you have applied the white to the tips and it has completely dried.

In the truest fashion of a French manicure, the white tips are completed first and then the pink is applied to the rest of the nail. Many people find it easier to avoid mistakes when they apply the pink first. It is completely up to you or the person who completes the manicure for you.

Complete the look by adding an anti chip top coat to each of your fingernails. To help keep your nails looking nice a new coat of anti chip top coat should be added every three days.

The process of a French manicure does take time to master so be patient. If you aren’t willing to learn then it is worth the cost of paying a professional to complete it for you. Getting a French manicure is an excellent way to reward yourself for the hard work you do each and every day.
