When it comes to procrastinating you are really hurting yourself. You are keeping your full potential as a person from shining through. Sure, we all get lazy about doing our routine tasks now and then but when it becomes a way of life it is time to step up to the challenge of doing a complete turn around. Challenging yourself to stop procrastinating may sound silly, but it is definitely a technique that is worth trying out if you have trouble getting things accomplished.

Procrastination and Added Challenge

When it comes to procrastinating you are really hurting yourself. You are keeping your full potential as a person from shining through. Sure, we all get lazy about doing our routine tasks now and then but when it becomes a way of life it is time to step up to the challenge of doing a complete turn around. Challenging yourself to stop procrastinating may sound silly, but it is definitely a technique that is worth trying out if you have trouble getting things accomplished.

Start by making yourself a list of the things you procrastinate about. Then list a couple of options for making the task more inviting. If you are overwhelmed by large tasks you can break them down into smaller pieces. This way you will feel a sense of accomplishment as you complete each section. Make it a priority to accomplish the things you dread the most first thing in the morning. This way you can’t put them off for later in the day, tomorrow, or the day after that.

Make yourself another list of the things you need to get done. Assign a deadline for when they have to be completed. Be realistic about the timeframes because if you don’t give yourself enough time you will be disappointed. If the task is something that has to be broken down into segments then assign a deadline for each part of it. If you give yourself too much time you are still procrastinating in a more organized format!

Let other people help you with your challenge. This can be your family members, co-workers, or close friends. Share your goals with them as well as the behaviors you are trying to modify. Chances are they know about your procrastination issues and they will be very happy that you are willing to make some changes. They can also help you stay on track.

When you decide to challenge yourself to stop procrastinating give yourself rewards for your accomplishments along the way. It can be a movie, a night out, or a new outfit. Make the reward something special that truly reflect the hard work you have put into changing your behaviors. You will also find the challenge of changing your procrastination habit will lead you to feeling like you have accomplished a great deal.
