So over the past three months twitter has been exploding onto the mainstream scene. Some argue that due to the massive influx of new users that the service that it provides has been watered down. Using Twitter before the mass influx of people was a different experience, now I'd like to tell you all my first hand experience watching twitter go mainstream.

March 9th, The progression that I noticed started with a Brian Unger piece for NPR called "Exploring the Dark Side of Tweets and Twitter." Brian rips into twitter, but does so in an amusing way. He blends together his monologue and a CommonCraft video to properly inform you on how to NOT use twitter.   He uses some of the typical twitter jokes but in an interesting way.

April 6th, while watching an episode of House, I saw this commercial brought to you by Sprint and the “Now Network” and my reaction And now I am glad that micro-blogged about it because I was able to see the exact date that this event took place.

April 15th Ashton Kutcher challenged CNN to be the first person to reach one-million followers. Ashton won and donated $10,000 worth of nets for a fight against malaria in Africa.

April 17th Oprah came and we all celebrated or not. A lot of people that were on twitter before it became cool, or at least cooler, really hate the fact that celebrities came to Twitterville. This reason being that the celebs water down the preverbal gene pool of smart people that are the foundation of what makes twitter great.

As of June 2nd 2009, it seems like every media outlet, radio DJ, blogger, SEO marketers and their dogs have an account. If you are interested in dog that tweet, check out http://dogswhotwitter.com/
