Siblings are those that are blood relatives and are either brothers or sisters. In our society, blended families are quite common so this term has grown to mean half siblings as well. While step brothers and sisters aren’t blood related some people still classify them as siblings.

There are several different types of sibling testing that take place to determine their relationship with each other. The most common is the DNA testing which allows it to be proven or discredited that two individuals are indeed siblings. The DNA they will have is unique to them but it will have enough identifying markers to determine who their biological parents are.

It doesn’t matter what type of household children are raised in, rivalry among siblings is going to take place on many different levels. Statistically, such rivalry appears more often between siblings of the same sex.

The relationships between siblings are very interesting to study. You see some that are very close to each other based on the dynamics in their family as they were growing up. They protected each other and depended on each other as children and so that strong bond continues into their adult years.

Even though siblings tend to fight with each other on a regular basis about everything under the sun, they do have a deep love for each other in most cases. The death of one of them will have a significant impact on the others and the entire dynamics of the family will be forever changed.
